Attempting to not get ahead of God presents unique challenges in life. I am being shaped in a season of waiting. It seems that the waiting may not be over, but a shift is happening. I wish you could hear me shouting, “GOD IS FAITHFUL”. It’s true. I know.
I’ve got two interviews next week and hopes for another just around the bend. God is in it all.
Make me ready, Lord! I am yours!
I found out yesterday that I got a spot at a conference in the mountains of NC for the weekend. I’m heading towards Asheville before dawn tomorrow. I am excited. Whatever God has for me I hope to be open to receive with joy. Pray for me. Check out lakelogan.org to see where I’ll be staying. It is a retreat center of the Episcopal church. I am looking forward to engaging in the work of the people and sharing thanksgiving in community. God is all over this continuing and wonderous adventure. Yeah!

I am hoping to find a part-time job that suits me. I don’t want to grab one for the sake of having a job. I really want the one that is right. I have been resisting the seemingly natural inclination to pursue a job and rather park myself in a place of active waiting. I can see that God is working around me. He is showing me something about of not living in a mainstream way. I’ve made a few connections lately that seem to be pointing toward the Kingdom of God. Got to be…it’s all just too beautifully ridiculous. God’s plan is unfolding and I am filled with peace & joy.
Walking on…
I saw a guy preaching on a UNC campus lawn today with a crowd of 4 or 5. He brought a smile to my face. Is outdoor preaching effective in the world of today? I hope. His style was conversational and he wore a suit and a baseball cap. Thank you, Lord, for people who are crazy about you.
It was confirmed today that 2 church planter friends of mine from ATS are going live on Sunday at the Varsity Theater on Franklin Street. Worship at 11:00. Lovechapelhill.com Let it be!

This week has been loaded with lots of new and I am glad. Here we go…forward! I went to new places, met new people and considered new things. This week has been full of prayer, study, quiet, conversation, visiting, singing, talking, laughing and eating. I found myself forgetting the things I should forget and remembering the things I should embrace. Next week promises to be full of more of the same…new things. Amen! Let it be! Truly.
Thank You, Lord! More compassion. More mercy. More love. More joy…for all people. Hallelujah!
It is quite beautiful outside today, so I took a walk in the neighborhood. There is a relatively new park just south of my house. The park has really groovy markers in it that make me wonder everytime I see them what inspired their development and placement. When you enter the park at specific points you can’t help but noticed things like a stack of rocks or a circle of rocks. It all looks rather artistic, but it seems there is more too it. When I see the pile of rocks I immediately think “ebenezer”, but I’m guessing that is not what the park planners were driving at when they made the decision.
I suppose my interpretation of the rocks reflects a particular perspective that is developing within me based on a growing understanding of God’s story. All the bits and pieces that make it unique draw me in at odds points of everyday life.
I’m now wondering about the variety of ancient understandings and practices of people marking spaces with rocks. I sense some time spent in research coming on…so much to learn.
I went to the 2nd birthday of a church this evening. There is something incredibly beautiful about a baby church. I thank God for people who are willing to live in a way that demonstrates willingness to take a chance. Vineyard has a saying that resonates with me. Consider the question, “How do you spell faith?” In Vineyard circles the answer to that rather simple question is, in fact, rather bold. How do you spell faith? R I S K
Lord God, bless the baby churches. Let their roots run deep into the ground of the good soil You have planted them in. Guard the hearts of the courageous ones You have called to go forth with seemingly nothing but a heart burning with the love of God and an unshakeable call to forsake riches to bring You glory. Amen. Amen. Amen.
